1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about wondering whom he may devour;

(NCV)
Control yourselves and be careful! The devil, your enemy, goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to eat.

The dream was so vivid, so real I woke up emotionally beaten even though upon fully waking I knew it the act was not something that I personally do, yet it was a dire warning.

A open purse in an empty grocery cart, unguarded, back turned while absorbed in the now highly important task of label reading.  We have, if we reflect upon it, know someone
who religiously leaves their bag, electronic device or even vehicles unsecured, unwatched, vulnerable to the attention of roaming opportunists.

Upon closer inspection, noting that debit and credit cards are missing with shaking hands, now in panic we attempt to call and cancel our cards, not fully grasping the depths of this preventable violation.

Often our very hearts and minds are violated a by what we
permit to enter. The Bible text says to “be vigilant” yet in our passivity we view numerous hours of mindless television,  games, movies that have ever so subtly desensitized us to graphic and excessive violence.  On a daily basis we have a vast array of low moral exhibiting characters to view and discuss.  We have shaped our lives by what old folks used to call the “idiot box”.

The roaring lion has had many years of experience, his strategies evolve with each generation.  Lord, please help us to be more aware of the messages received and sent. More vigilant in protecting our minds against the evils of this world that seeks to drawings further and further away from You.

Making His praise glorious!
