1 Corinthians 3:9  For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.

In the span of seven days we have witnessed truly dramatic shifts in weather! One day 79 and sunny and two days later snow. One day trees barely clinging to their festive fall plumage the next those very same leaves dusted with ice crystals. Watching the random and erratic storms and natural disasters wreaking havoc with their frequency and ferocity all I can do is pray! Abba Father, we need You! We need your direction and guidance as we help one another dig out from one disaster or another. The needs are so great yet each of us have something we can share. A word of comfort to give, a blanket, scarf or hat knitted or time. Time spent gathering donations or serving food. Let us serve those who need us, allow Your light to shine through us and lead others to know You and your love !

Little Boy Lost

Parable of the lost sheep
Be careful that you don’t look down on one of these little ones. I say to you that their angels in heaven are always looking into the face of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 18:10 (CEB)

For six days we have been glued to our televisions, smartphones and radios awaiting news about a lost 8-year old autistic boy named, Robert. Thousands of volunteers answered the call and went out to search. This was not an easy task, the area was hilly, uneven, rough, muddy and and according to the news physically taxing. volunteers were asked to be physically fit. For six days and five nights, 24 hours a day – they searched, never losing hope and today he was found, safe. This week a city prayed for the family, law enforcement, volunteers and most of all for that lost boy. My faith tells me that he was never alone! His guardian angel attended to him during his every missing moment, God knew. One lost child rallied thousands to action and right on time, before the most dramatic weather shift on record, he was located. I count myself a volunteers in the quest to find just one lost soul to bring into the safety of the family of God!

My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness. Isaiah 26:9

The a song  “Already Here” by Brian Courtney Wilson was quietly playing in my office the other day and once again I was moved to acknowledge the presence of God. Right there in that windowless, space I felt the warm, comforting  embrace of the Holy Spirit and a flood of peace enveloped me. In the time it took for that song to play I had an on purpose worship session that colored the rest of my day. As I begin this day, recalling that precious interlude with God, my prayer is that more of those moments infuse my days.

“…The LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”  Numbers 6:26

Sometimes the paths taken on our journey lead us in directions that are not peaceful!  The terrain can be treacherous, the weather either too hot or too cold and the natives, always restless.   There are days when the hills can be climbed with little or no effort and the hours breeze past as we visually take in the sights and scenes God places before us.  Then there are THOSE days!  The ones where there are meandering trails, overgrowth of weeds and seemingly unnecessary detours.  I believe those are the days when I most desire to have the Lord turn His face toward me.   That is the desire that today, for God’s grace, peace and love to permeate each word I speak.

Make a clean heart in me, O God. Give me a new spirit that will not be moved Psalm 51:10

I woke up with purging on my mind! Driving past trees slowly shedding their leaves the thought struck me again and I had to pray. “Lord, really what is left to purge? Before moving I had purged my closet, in hindsight a less than brilliant move because I could wear those clothes now. The yarn stash is coming down, but I have not gifted the pile of goods, yet! Through the years I have shed furniture and belongings like a snake-skin, pieces here and there, so again I asked what? The answer came low but very clear, doubt and fear. Ouch, I have offered prayers and professions of faith, yet like Thomas I had been harboring doubt. Followed closely by moments of hesitant fear. He had me dead right, I need to purge, to have God cleanse my heart, to pray and for God to remove the fear and doubt and to steady my confidence and calm the fear.  Father, in this day I thank you for the thoughts and dreams that allow me to confront and call out those things that are a barrier to clearly hearing You!

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the open space of the heavens to divide day from night. Let them tell the days and years and times of the year. Genesis 1:13-15

Tic toc, tic toc the clock slowly sounded. Each second eating away the minutes, hours and at strikes days. Shaking my head there dawns a sense that I have lost several days. Looking left then right I see exactly where the time went.  Before me are two completed projects, a third started and  a vague memory of cooking and eating dinner. A recollection that conversations held and prayer, lots of prayer. Fearing idle hands I am humbly amazed at how time flies when I let go and speak with God while knitting. In truth there really is no such thing as lost time when God is communing and speaking.

Friday Prayer

Psalm 54:2  Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.

Merciful Father,

Thank you for another Friday for it signals the end of another week and the beginning of that  period of time spent with those we love. I pray that in this week glory has been brought to Your name. That Your children provided moments when You smiled. Forgive those who found pleasure in causing pain to others. Lead us continually back to You!  Please give hope to those who are struggling with unemployment , fractured relationships, poor health and at the very edge of despair. Thank you Lord for your love, grace mercy and most of all for Jesus. I ask and thank you in Jesus name, Amen.
