Numbers 10:9 (NIV)
9 When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies.
I love a good action movie and I especially appreciate the movies from which I can glean a lesson. This weekend’s movie was “Arn The Knight Templar” based on the trilogy by Jan Oskar Sverre Lucien Henri Guillou. It was an unexpected cinematic nugget that, for me, provided more than just a history lesson.
In one pivotal scene showed the two opposing combatants. One side of the battlefield was filled with craftsmen, builders and farmers visibly out numbered, unmatched, and seemingly facing certain death. Their leader, a knight who had fought battles in the name of the Lord extolled them to believe. Believe in their training and most of all that to believe God was with them in the battle. They were victorious, though not without losses, they followed the instructions of a leader who had been battle tested.
As warriors in the Lord’s army we are not to focus upon our limitations, lack of skill or perceived ignorance. Our battles when prayerfully placed in God’s hands are assured of victory. The battle against the devil cannot nor will not be won without divine direction and intervention.
Dedicating the battlefield in life to the Lord allows us to become vessels wielded by Him.
Making His praise glorious!
