James 5:7 [ Patience in Suffering ] Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.
As usually happens on a day in which rain is predicted for later in the day it began on my way in to work. It started gently enough, but by the time I went to get out of the car it was a downpour. I love rain because of what it does. Providing much-needed water to a dry thirsty patch of land, pushing one season along on its journey and for the quick cleansing of the earth. I also love rain in those rare times I am able to view a rainbow. God’s visible promise to never again clear the Earth with water. I cringe at the thought of a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow because for me it dims the promise. Far preferable is the promise and hope of Heaven to the trinkets this world offers. Today, as I enjoy the Fall showers, renew within me the yearning and longing for my home in heaven.
Making His praise glorious!
